Pragmatic use of ancient greek pronouns in two communicative frameworks

چکیده

This paper deals with the use of personal pronouns (PPs) in Ancient Greek two Aristophanes’ comedies (i.e. Lysistrata and Ecclesiazusae ). The main purpose this study is to show that PPs often have a pragmatic function, particular linked speaker’s communicative goals. analysis highlights presence gender-related distribution context-dependent pronouns. In particular, male characters prefer 1st person singular pronouns, whereas female more plural an inclusive value. Moreover, frameworks it possible notice how are used for their value membership categorization. respect can be considered markers autonomía or afiliación (see Bravo 1999). Some peculiar instances referential ambiguities concern 2nd both comedies.The shows varies according gender context. clear variation should explained mainly as strategy categorization, thus showing non-prototypical uses similar other languages (e.g. Spanish, English, Modern Greek).
